PORTHCLAIS HARBOUR
PORTHCLAIS HARBOUR
When a boat is turned upside down it stops being a boat and starts keeping the rain out!
The shapes make me think of Beetle Shells and the like and again the colours are such a welcome injection of joy.
Porthclais harbour has a really timeless quality about it, hard to find these days and is such a good natural harbour.
Living in Pembrokeshire is just feels like you are on holiday. I like walking down this little harbour, stepping in Graham Sutherlands shoes and just walk down to road to Porthclais. Porthclais Harbour has always been the harbour for the city of St David’s used by saints, disciples and pilgrims during the Age of Saints, and by little trading vessels during the centuries that followed. The small breakwater goes back to Norman times. At the head of the creek you can find stone quarries and restored lime kilns and the old trading quays. Nowadays this is a popular spot for launching canoes and used for water activities.
